Visitors to Thailand in August will get a unique opportunity to buy some of the country’s most creative, indigenously-made products specially designed to be used as gifts for all mothers everywhere.
The “Creative Industry: Gifts for Moms” Fair has held daily on 3- 23 August, 2015 between 10:00 – 19:00 hrs. at the Khlong Padung Krung Kasem Market. It is being organised to commemorate the 12 August birthday of Her Majesty the Queen, an event which is celebrated annually as National Mother’s Day. Her Majesty will turn 83 this year.
The Fair is being organised by the Ministry of Industry in collaboration with Ministry of Culture and the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority. The Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha presided at the opening ceremony on 3 August, 2015.
Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs, Mrs Renu Tunkachivangoon, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee for the Khlong Padung Krung Kasem Market, said, “The Royal Thai Government is working hard to create sales and marketing platforms for the creative designers and manufacturers of Thai-made products.”
Visitors to the Fair will see a unique range of Thai products which combine local traditions and wisdom-based craftsmanship. Their innovative designs make them perfect for household use, souvenir and gift items as well as industrial use. All are available at very reasonable prices.
In addition to the consumer sales areas, the “Gifts for Moms” Fair had a strong trade platform to provide advice on business development and upgrading of product quality/standard by the Ministry of Industry, business matching by the Ministry of Commerce, and provision of loans and advice on developing business plans by the SME Bank.
Each week, products sold at the Fair will be different.
The first week (3-9 August), under the theme “Mother and Daughter: Different Ages, Same Trendy Hearts”, will offer textiles, clothes, garments, accessories, shoes/bags, and skincare products.
The second week (10-16 August), under the theme “Health Conscious Modern Mom” will feature processed food, healthcare products, baby and diet food
Third week, (17-23 August), under the theme “Beautiful Home by Moms”, will feature home decorations; such as, wooden furniture, ceramic Buddha images, etc.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is inviting tour operators and hotels in Bangkok to inform their guests and clients about the Fair and encourage them to visit.
Mrs. Juthaporn Rerngronasa, TAT Acting Governor and Deputy Governor for International Marketing (Europe, Africa, Middle East and Americas) said, “This Fair is a wonderful opportunity for all visitors to indulge in some really unique shopping that will help them “Discover Thainess” at its best. In the process, they will also be supporting grassroots Thai entrepreneurs, especially in the provincial areas, enhancing the economic livelihood of small and medium sized enterprises and encouraging indigenous skills and craftsmanship.”
